T-Hotbox News
We, Robaina Direct LLC registered trademark owner of HotboxPDR.com®, originally electronic PDR (paintless dent repair) tools introduced to North America 3650 T-Hotbox back in 2013. So whether you purchased one of our original older 3650 blue machines or if you have purchased the newer more innovative 3800 series HotboxPDR.com® red kits, the operating instructions are the same.
• The HotboxPDR.com® operates using heat, magnetism and vibration.
• It’s designed for soft dents only as a standalone tool to reduce and or eliminate them on flat or convex steel panels.
• It will not remove dents from concave panels, near panel edges or on or near body lines - as they hold tension.
The ideal setting is 0.5 seconds (paint safe) which is the automatic shut off time related to holding down the red button on the “VS pen.” If you release the button and press it once again, the timer will restart and the device will stay on for another 0.5 seconds.
If the dent has a slight crease or medium impression it may need to be opened up (blended / "shallowed out") with the industry standard PDR knockdown tool that's included with your kit (and PDR hammer - not included) or PDR rod(s) prior to attempting to use the T-Hotbox on the second pass. The T-Hotbox is used in may cases to reduce the affected surrounding area and reduce the size of the dent. To do this you would operate as if there are 4 quadrants to the dent. Starting about 2 inches away from the center of the dent on one of the quadrants you’d place the old VS pen or the new 3800 series hand piece lightly on the panel as instructed and press the button and hold until it times out on the 0.5 second setting. Then you’d move about 1 inch towards the dent and repeat the step. Then move to the opposing quadrant and repeat the last two steps. Then go to the third quadrant repeating the same steps and then completing that sequence in the fourth quadrant. The last step would be to place the VS pen or the new 3800 series hand piece in the center of the dent and pressing the button. Note: do not apply pressure with the VS pen or the new 3800 series hand piece on the panel, this will disable the device from lifting the panel. Depending on the end results you may need to repeat a few of the steps or use a knockdown or other PDR tools to “open up” the dent making the dent more shallow and then using the old T-hotbox or the new 3800 series as instructed once again. Consider that this tool is similar to glue pull in the sense that you may have to use other tools and techniques in combination to achieve the desired results if its not a true soft dent.
The T-Hotbox can also be used to tighten up metal that has been worked on with other PDR tools as well. Hot and cold shocking techniques can also be used with cold compressed can air and the T-Hotbox. The tool should be viewed as a device that can be used on most dents that are repaired as a way of reducing the cycle time per dent as a “reduction tool” in combination with other PDR repair methods. The T-Hotbox can shave minutes off each dent that’s repaired and present a remarkable return on your investment.

Remember the device is straight forward on how it operates. It does three things in a focused area at the press of a button. It puts heat vibration and magnetism into that focus area and it is completely up the operation to properly position the hand piece and move it either around the dent or on to the center area of the dent by "reading" the reaction of the metal and making the next position change of the hand piece prior to pushing the button. Using our LED lights is also critical as we've tested these and provide the best results. Here's the link to our LED light system that we strongly recommend for these operations: "CLICK HERE"
